Hello
Sam. Love your web site. My question is how
many hours a day do you train? Sarah
from Melbourne
Thanks Sarah, I'm glad you like the web site. I train between
4-6 hours a day. Most days I run twice. I also do special
core strength training and do some swimming. Then there
are massages and stretching exercises.
It is fairly full on. I also work
about 25 hours a week, which
means it's a pretty busy life!

What's
your favourite race? Mandy
from the Gold Coast
I have
a couple of favourite races. I love the Gold Coast
and Melbourne Marathons (but
that's probably just because
I won them - that probably clouds my judgement!).
I
also enjoy the City to Surf in Sydney. The race attracts
a huge number of competitors and it's great fun.

Do you
have a coach? David
from Sydney.
I have a
number of people who help me with my running
programs. Peter Hall and Jenny Alcorn (both on the Gold
Coast) are my main supports.

I'm about
to start running to keep fit. What advice
would you give me? I am 14.
Heather from Auckland.
Good
question Heather. My main advice would be to get
a good pair of running shoes, don't train too hard and
(most importantly) enjoy your running.

Love the
pictures on your web site, Sam. Do you
like having your photo taken so much?
Peter from
Tweed Heads.
Thanks Peter. I'm glad you
like the photos. I don't mind
having my photo taken - the professional photos shoots
I've done for sponsors take hours and hours to set up and
do. That gets a little boring.
I much prefer the natural photos
than the staged ones.

How
old were you when you started sport?
Laura
from Queensland.
Thanks for your question
Laura. I started playing sport
at school when I was 7 or 8. I've always loved sport and
exercise - I think it's important to enjoy it.
Hope you enjoy your sport!

Hello
Sam. I saw you win the big race in Melbourne.
It was really, really exciting. Was that exciting and
was it your best win? Did you think you would win?
How come you can run so fast at the end of a marathon?
I am 10. Jonathon
from Geelong.
Thanks Jonathon.
I'm glad you saw the finish of
the big race in Melbourne.
There was a lot of people there and it was very exciting
for me to win a big race in front of so many people. I also
had some family there to watch and that made it even better.
It was one of my best wins and
I wasn't sure I would win
until near the end. I had to run as fast as I could at the end
because I want to run in the Commonwealth Games and you
have to be able to run pretty fast to be able to run in that race.
I can run pretty fast at the
end of a marathon because I practice
a lot. But my legs were very tired.
Thanks for asking me your
questions Jonathon.
Bye
