The Latest - 6th October 2003 Well it has been way to long since I have updated this section, and it is time to let you guys know what I have been up to this last year. Firstly I just wanted to say what a fantastic year for distance running it has been, with the SMASHING of both the men's and women's marathon records. Paula Radciffe is just amazing, and I believe the fastest women ever. Not only can she run fast over the shorter distances, but she absolutely smashed the women's marathon record this year running 2hrs 15. We can't forget Paul Terrgot's sub 2hrs 05 either - who knows how fast these guys will go. At the end of the month I am off to New York for the famous New York Marathon. Held on November the 2nd, this is going to be an amazing experience for me. Running with 30,000 other marathon runners and over 2 million spectators lining the streets, it will surely be an event to remember. The trip is a prize I won from winning the Melbourne Marathon in 2001. Unfortunately I won't be racing the event this year, rather just running it instead. 2003 has been a long year for me so far in terms of my running, with an ongoing injury or basically body burn out still plaguing me. I still love my running, but have had to take the year off from running competitively. It has been frustrating to say the least, and I do miss racing but you know when the body isn't right, and me pushing it even harder will just do more damage. I have realised this year that there are other wonderful things in life rather than just running. Surfing on Sunday mornings rather than running 35km, running on the beach with my beautiful golden retriever Mojo and spending time with my great friends and spunky boyfriend are all things that I love just as much as my running. I know I will run competitively again one day and the fact that marathon running seems to be a sport where the older you get (for females anyway) the stronger you become, I know I have a few more years left in me yet.Remember, if you have any questions please just send me an e-mail.
